In 1987, some undergraduates in Umulokpa organised a tree planting campaign. It was during this programme that the idea of a unified body of Educated Elites was midwifed. This was made a reality after several pathfinding meetings, when on 24th December 1991 UMAC was inaugurated under the leadership of Late Dr. Vincent Ekwunife, in an epoch-making event with people from walks of life, timbers, and calibers of Umulokpa in attendance
